Rod Balance Replacement

Home Owner from Puerto Rico
To whom it may concern,

I have some old windows and I am in need to replace some of them. The Rod window balance are 29" long. See photos of my actual balance. Do you sell a replacement direct fit? We have a beach condo and there are some other neighbors who are interested in replacing them.

Thanks for reaching out! Your balances appear to be the discontinued crossbow style balance. These have been converted to use our Series 795 Channel Balances.

To confirm that these balances will be a situatable replacement, you'll need to find and remove an undamaged balance from a window so that you can get the accurate measurements from the balance. These include the length of an undamaged balance, the diameter of the balance channel/tube (which should be 1/2"), as well as the width of the bottom T-shaped attachment. You will also need to obtain the exact weight of the window to select the correct stamp option.

You'll also want to confirm the width of your bottom shoe. It will either be 1" or 1-1/4" across the bottom of the T shape.

Take a look at the video below for instructions on this balance conversion and the information you'll need to determine the correct balances. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi,

Thanks for the prompt response, I included the measurements in the photos from the original message, tomorrow I'll swing by the apartment and weight of the window.

Ad you can see in the photos I used an undamaged balance and the measurement. I'll provide later today the t shape part width and the balance diameter.

Yes, I understand. In the initial message, you included the length of the balance but it does not confirm the diameter of the balance or the width of the bottom shoe.

Since the balance measures 29", you'll likely need the S795-29. These balances come with the 15-195 closed cam, 1-1/4" T-Lock Balance shoe attached. If yours measures 1", you'll need the 15-194 shoe, which is sold separately.

Once you've obtained the exact weight of the sash, you'll be able to confirm the stamp. There is a chart below the product description that shows the weight ranges each option can hold to support the weight of the sash.

Feel free to reach out with any questions.

Hi,

Enclosed please find the measurements as requested, the Tlock I think it's 1". I also included the diameter.

The sash is 16pounds. I need a total of 4 balances. I also have a neighbor who needs a total of 16. Can you please quote that one as well separately?

Thanks again,

Rodney

Hi Rodney,

Thanks for confirming this information. Our S795-29 will work well as a replacement for these balances. You'll need to select the 29B stamp for a window weighing 16lbs. Please remember, you'll need the 15-194 for replace the 1" shoe which will need to be added to the cart along with the balances. Take a look at the video below for instructions on how to swap out the shoes.

You'll want to confirm that your neighbor has the same exact windows, with the same exact balance length and sash weight. Also, you'll want to take a look at how your neighbor's balances attach to the top of the window. If it has all of the same parts yours does, then you should be good to go.

All of the pricing and information is included on the website. You'll be able to formulate a quote for yourself and your neighbor by adding the items to the online cart. If you need assistance with placing your order(s), you may call to speak with a member of our customer service team at (888) 991-1929.
