Hello, I have metal bifold closet doors, probably from about 1974ish.
During some remodeling, I believe some parts went missing. There are a couple caps I am looking to replace as pictured, but also am wondering what the function of the rubber bumper is. I have one door installed, but it doesn't stay shut all the way. It does shut, but then when you let go it kind of just slides back so that it's not flat. Would the rubber bumper help that?

Hey Jen. If you mean that clamp in the picture, it's really meant to hold the pin in place, so I'm not sure if it would affect the door's ability to close. A worn pin and cap may be the culprit there. I am fairly certain we can help, but I'll need the diameter of the pins and the diameter of any caps still atop the pins. Any brand or manufacturing label on the door would also be a big help. You can read more about bifold door repairs here.
