STANLEY Bi-Fold metal door not sliding

Handy Person from Winnipeg, CANADA
I'm reaching out regarding an issue with our sliding door. The door has stopped sliding properly, and I've noticed that the pin at the bottom is no longer moving. I'm unsure whether the entire mechanism needs to be replaced or if there are specific spare parts available to replace just the pin. Please check my photos.

Could you please advise if replacement parts for the bottom pin are available? If so, I’d appreciate your guidance on which parts are needed.
Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hello,

Based on your photos, I'd recommend starting by looking over the 23-407 corner block, the 23-113 bottom pivot, and the 23-112 top pivot. Please review the specifications and see how they compare with your original hardware. Thanks for posting!

Hi Casey,

Thanks for the analysis. Could you please confirm if there is the plastic cap is included if I order the pivots pins? I'm not sure if there was a cap for it to slide.  Thank you

I can't be sure, but it sounds like you might be referring to the 21-174 roll guide that rides in the top track, which the 23-112 top pivot engages with. I believe the gray item shown in the first photo is part of the bottom pivot block.

Hi Paul.  Thanks for the answer. I'm unsure if I know all the parts to be replaced because the old cap disappeared. Do you have a checklist for all the parts required for it to work? Or an assembly guide that shows the parts for the upper and lower track fixtures for the pivot pin, and pivots. I believe the source of my problem was in the lower track. The door jammed in the middle of the track. Thank you

May I see the top and bottom tracks? That will help us determine any other parts you may need.

Hi Paul. These photos show the two tracks and the parts removed with the top track. I also included the photos from the door with the corner fixture and pivot pins still installed. I don't think that needs to be replaced. Please confirm if I need to buy the top and bottom roll guides and any other items. Thank you so much.

Everything shown in your new photos looks fine, except for installing the pivot brackets. Does our 21-174 nylon roll guide match the one used for your tracks? If so, that should be all you need.

Unfortunately, I don't have any old roll guide to compare. Is there any other way to confirm if the my pivot pins are compatible with 21-174? If you think it is safer to buy the whole set for top and bottom moving pivots: corner block, pivot, spring and roll guide. I am okay with that as well. Thank you

Hello,

To further confirm, may I see an end view of the track with dimensions of the inside of the track, where the guide would slide?

Hi Paul,

Please check these measurements from the bottom..let me know if you need anything else. Thank you

It seems like you might be looking for something like the 23-130 Stanley slide guide. Take a look and see what you think.

Hi Paul,
I want to confirm if I need to buy 21-174 based on track measurements. About the 23-130, is it an alternative to 21-174? I believe my door didn't use this Stanley slide guide. Let me know what do you recommend based on my door type.
Thank you

Hello,

I talked to my associate for this issue and because Stanley discontinued many of their door parts, it might be wise to go with new tracks that we know will work with the 21-174 roll guide. Look at tracks, 21-450,21-452 & 21-455. The 21-174 roll guide will not work in your track because it doesn't have a groove for it. Again my associate doesn't think the 23-130 will slide in your track and 23-130 is not a Stanley part.

Let us know if you have any additional questions.

One more question. If I change the top and bottom tracks, as you recommend, what are the required pivots and corner brackets for it? I want to buy them all. Thank you

Besides the track, you might want one 23-113 and three 23-112 per door. The tracks come with the pivot brackets and nylon roll guides.
