Sash weight range

Home Owner from West Deptford, New Jersey
I am replacing 2 channel balance rods on one of my Capital Product windows. The window measures 33x58.
It looks like my channel balance rods match...S371-29. There are no markings on these pieces at all. I am not sure what stamp option I need for the sash weight range. Any help would be appreciated. April Maska

Series 371 definitely won't do the trick. Check out S395-29 if your metal channel is 29" long. For the sash weight range, you'll simply have to uninstall the sash and weigh it. There's a chart on the S395-29 webpage that lists which stamp option to choose depending what your sash weight is.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I can weigh the sash. My concern is that you are recommending S395-29 but the top piece on my existing windows are flat which matches S371-29. The channel balance you are recommending has a higher top not flat. I assume this will make a difference when removing windows or raising sash. You still recommend Series 395?

Hm... no, if it's anything besides Series 395, your balance would match S370-29, which is like Series 371 with a different bottom attachment. See the wingless bottom? You don't have any wings.

With your top attachments shown from such a distance, I can't really be sure what they are. We still believe your top attachments are a broken version of the 19-005 from the Series 395 balance.

It's possible you have the 19-004 attachment from the Series 370, though, but it doesn't look like it. Your top attachments are so broken that it's difficult for us to tell. You should compare for yourself or obtain close-up photos.

Another difference between Series 370 and Series 395 is the bottom attachment, which is slightly different in size. Series 370 has 15-002 and Series 395 has 15-001. See which bottom and top attachment you need.
