The slider in your window is called a channel balance. We can replace it, but it will have to be a special order. Specifically, we'd use our Series 770 with a 62-105 hook attached to the end. I would just like you to tell me the exact weight of your sash so we can calculate the proper spring strength. I also need to know how many you need.

As for removing the balance, first unhook it from the shoe and gently let the hook raise back into the metal channel. Don't just hook it and let it go, or it will snap back. These are under a lot of tension, so it's important that you maintain a firm grip on it. You can use needle nose pliers.

Once the hook is retracted, simply unscrew the balance at the top and it should come right out.
