The plastic pivot part that connects the top sash to the coil balance is broken

We don't sell this exact pivot bar, but others with this part have reported that they were able to pull out the old pivot bar and install the 26-089. Review the specifications and see what you think.

How can I determine if this pivot bar will fit the existing pivot shoe?

You'll want to make sure the 3/16" height and 5/16" width match up with the old pivot bar.

My existing pivot bar is attached to the sash by a plastic mechanism that slides into a groove. It's not clear that your metal pivot bar will fit and be attachable to the sash. Can I order one to test?

Customers had to reuse the old plastic housing, as there was no way to mount the pivot bar otherwise. You can certainly order just one pivot bar to start. Our return policy can be found here.
