Jacob D gave me a terrific list of parts to fix my Simonton windows, but I don't which balance spring to get. The original spring has 408 stamped on it. Is that helpful or do you need more information? My window sashes are as the following measurements. Bottom is 26and 1 half x 24, and the top is 25 and 1 half x 22 and 1 half.Sashes are 1 and 7 eighties thick.Double glass insulated.

Hey there. Series 159 Coil Balance springs come in spring weights of X-1/2 pound increments. Your old springs came in even pound increments. The safest thing to do here is to give me the exact weight of the window sash. Give me that exact weight and I'll work out what you need.

Weighed both sashes and found each one is 12.4lbs. So,what size coil spring do I need? Then I can order the parts. Thank you for your help.

For each sash then you could use a pair of the S159-06 6.5 pound springs. That will give you a total weight support of 13 pounds--as long as you are within 1 pound of the actual sash weight (12.4 pounds in this case), this works just fine. Let us know if you have further questions.
