Hi
I am making my own aluminum single hung windows for my new house and I'd like to try these coil balances, but I have a question: Does each side of the window need to have two coils or only one?
The house has two different widths for windows (height is the same 110 cm) and the sashes weight 7kg and 5.5 kg. Each sash is 47 cm height.
Cheers,
Joaquin

It's really tough to say what you need for an all new application. All of our balances are meant to replace very specific previously existing hardware. We will do our best to help. You ask if it's better to use two springs or only one, but to be honest they don't really work that way. What's more important is that the weight of your sash is supported. If the sash weight is held by two springs, then go with that. If just one is sufficient, then go with that instead. You don't springs that are too strong or too weak, they have to be precise. You may want to consider something like our Series 140 instead. They come with the spring, housing and pivot shoe. For 7 kg., I would recommend a S140-8 and for 5.5 kg., I recommend S140-6. The pivot bar that connects the sash to the pivot shoe would be our 26-398. |
