I have six windows with broken balances of the crossbow series 850 type, the crossbow is black and 1.5" wide. The spring is 13.75", the length of the gray rod is 27.25" and the full length of the unit with crossbow and top attached is approximately 28.5". The window sashes are 30".
The closest rod lengths you have listed on website are 24.5" and 36.5". Can the 36" be cut down to fit or will the 24.5" work?

Hello Travis,
The S850 balances are discontinued and replaced with our S795 balance. You would need to replace the balance on both sides of your window with our S795-28 channel balance. You'll also need to replace your pivot bars with our 26-021 replacements and weight your bottom sash to choose the correct spring strength option from the chart on our product page. Thank you!
We ask for the sash weight because the old balance you have has a spring weight range between 7-21 lbs. The S795-28 has a more defined weight scale. The (28A) is 7-12 lbs., (28B) is 12-18 lbs. and (28C) is 18-23 lbs.
If you originally had the 26-1/2" long Crossbow balance, the S795-26 is the correct replacement. The 15-135 Pivot Shoe is also still available. This is for a different window, right? As these shoes are not used with the Series 795 or the old crossbow balances. Many thanks!
