Series 850 block and tackle rods

A handy person from North Carolina says:
I have double hung windows with the series 850 type shoe. The lower sash rod measures 28.25" and the upper 24". The plastic blocks on the top of the rods have broken and I assume I need to replace the entire system. There are no markings on the hardware that I can see. I would estimate that the sashes are 15-20lbs. each.

Thank you for contacting us. I'm afraid we no longer sell the Series 850 in that size. Manufacturers are phasing this style out, so they won't be around forever. Even the sizes we do have are limited.

Fortunately, we have a good solution. I recommend using our Series 795 as a replacement. This works just as well as the Series 850, and I would say even better, but there are a couple of things you have to do to make sure this will work.

First, you need to determine the length. If your old balance was 28.5" long, we recommend the S795-28. Rounding down to the next lowest inch should be fine. Next, you'll have to weigh your sash on a scale to confirm the best stamp option. You estimated your sash at 15-20 pounds, but I'd recommend putting them on a scale to get an exact weight. We have a chart on the S795-28 store page you can use as a reference.

You also want to measure your shoe to confirm it's the right width. The S795-28 comes with a 1-1/4" wide shoe by default. If that's how wide your shoe is, great. If yours is 1" wide, though, then you will need to purchase our 15-194 separately. These just pop on and off so it shouldn't be a problem swapping them out.

Finally, you need a new pivot bar to work with the new system. I recommend the 26-021.
