Shoe and Coil

I'm sure this is a 15-177, the problem I'm having is the coil. There's an "F" stamped on the outside, instead of a number.

Hi there!

Thanks for reaching out to us. I agree that this would be a good match for the 15-177. Since there isn't a number stamped on the spring, you will have to divide the sash weight by the total number of springs in the window to determine the proper spring weights. Feel free to get back to us with the sash weight and we can calculate what you'd need from there.

Thanks, I'm not understanding. Do you want me to weight the sash? I can do that, I can pull out each sash (two) and weigh them..

Yes, you'll have to weigh the window sash. That would be the glass panel that moves up and down.

Got it. I went ahead and weighed both the top and bottom sashes. The bottom sash, where I removed both the coil and balance, weighs about 17.10 lbs (nearly 18). The top sash comes in at approximately 16.4 lbs. I'm assuming the top sash has the same coil as the bottom one.

For the 17.10-pound sash, you can use one S152-9 9-pound spring on each side of the window. This will total 18 pounds of overall support.

For the 16.4-pound sash, you can use one S152-8 8-pound spring on each side of the window which would total 16 pounds of overall support. These weights should work for you as long as the spring weights are within a pound of the sash's actual weight.
