Simonton Hung Window Balances

Quick Learner from Reading PA
-I have Simonton Single Hung Windows in my home installed in 1994

-They have 2 types of spring balance mechanisms.
-Type 1 is mounted near the top of the window channel (the spring coil extends to Balance shoe)
-Type 2 is mounted in the middle of the window channel (The spring coil is self-contained inside it’s plastic housing).

-The Type 1 spring balances are all defective and need to be replaced.

-Can I buy the self-contained Type 2 and use them in the windows that have the defective Type 1?

Thank you for posting. I think it might be a good idea to replace the balance system with what was already installed. Please take a look at our 15-111 pivot shoe. This appears to resemble your own, but see what you think. If so, then you should also check out our Series 160 coil spring, as well as our 15-150T cover.
