Single hung sash

A quick learner from calabasas, CA says:

purchased house used. This sash didn't stop at lift point. Right balance bar was some jury rigged thing. I was able to slide out left balance bar. It's 1/2 inch by x 26" I don't think I am able to remove sash: the inside frame "flange" seems to block its removal. But maybe they snap out. don't want to break it if there not supposed to snap out. manufacturer is unknown, except I know they went out of business.

Looks like you need a new channel balance like our S380-26 or S385-26. The only difference between these is the size of the shoe, so you'll have to measure yours to confirm the better choice.
As for uninstalling these, check out the video below. This should outline the proper removal process.
