Slider door handles

Quick Learner from West Coast
I am trying to find replacement handles for circa 1979 glass sliding patio doors. They are surface mount with holes for attachment 3-1/2 inches oc. They are one inch thick at the thickest part, but bevel down to 1/2 inch plus locking pins (1/4 Inch) on the closure side. The locking mechanism consists of two pins with a nub on the end and which turn ninety degrees. However, the locking mechanism does not work on any of the three doors in the house.

Attached are photos. The locking pins go into the 1/4 inch wide slot, and the body of the door goes into the 1/2 inch slot.

I do not want the same locking mechanism since they do not latch on any of the three doors.

The closest thing I saw on your site was 82-016. I t has a hook locking mechanism, but if that will fit into the 1/4 inch wide slot, it might work if I can get the keeper in the 1/4 inch slot. It might take some modification of the receiving slots to accomplish that.

Hello,

Unfortunately, we do not carry an exact replacement for your handle set with 3-1/2" hole spacing. The 82-063 comes to mind but the installation holes measure 3-7/8" apart.

You could consider using the 82-005 surface-mounted handle set, which does not require an internal mortise lock. This option would require making new installation holes since the holes in this handle measure 4-15/16" apart.  We can't make any guarantees but review both options to see if you could adapt one of them to work for your application. Thank you.
