Slider lock mechanism

Handy Person from Orchard Park, NY
I would like to repair/replace the mechanism so the door can be locked normally instead of putting a stick in the track. Can you identify a possible part that would solve the problem? It appears that the missing knob/lever controls rods inside the door which extend into top and bottom brackets.

Hey there,

Thanks for reaching out! I'm sorry to say both the handle set and the internal mortise lock for your patio door are no longer made. You may be able to use a handle like our 82-005 Surface Mount Sliding Door Assembly but I cannot make any guarantees that it will work.

You'll likely need to drill new holes in the door and on the side of the frame to install the handle and its compatible keeper. However, you'll need to double check that you have space for the keeper to be installed.

Take a look and see what you think!
