Sliding Door Handle latch problem

Question

In April this year I purchased a sliding door handle set , part number 82033.
Has worked fine until a couple of days ago.
Problem now is when you lift the latch to unlock the door, that latch piece will retract into the door, but when you shut the door and try to latch it, the piece that holds the door shut does not pop out of the door section. You have to use your fingernail to get it to come out of the door section.
Is there anything I can do to try to correct this problem that you may be aware of?

It sounds like your door needs a new mortise lock. We can certainly help with this, but the 82-033 is compatible with a few different kinds, such as the 82-218, the 82-239 or the 82-265, just to name a few. I can't say for sure which one you might end without seeing pictures of yours. You can see the rest of our selection here.
