Replacing Peachtree rollers

Quick Learner from Gulf Shores, AL
message: Our home is located on the beach and we have five sliding screens that are all manfactured by Peachtree. We have continuous problems with the roller system. Many different people stay here and some treat the doors as if they were wresteling with them. The doors came with rollers both at the top and bottom. I have tried replacing the bottom rollers with the nylon rollers such as your 84-028 but as soon as any weight is put on the roller the adjusting screw strips. I've thought about using the metal roller, 84-075 on the bottom and the nylon 84-028 on top.Your details on the rollers indicate that you generally use rollers only on the bottom of the door.

What to you reccomend for the top if not rollers and will they fit the Peachtree? I realize that the metal roller will be subject to more severe deterioration, but I don't seem to be able to work with the nylon.

Actually, I believe that Peachtree does just as you described and uses rollers on both the top and bottom of the screen door. I think you have the right idea; use the nylon rollers on top just to help guide and keep the door on the track, while using the metal rollers on the bottom to support the weight. You will have to keep the bottom metal roller lubricated with some type of wax spray or silicone spray to prevent the salt water corrosion, however.
