Sliding Window Balance Replacement

A home owner from Colorado says:

1/2" wide by 26" long window balance. Looking to replace two entire balances, including all necessary parts. I am so sick of removing the sliding window pane altogether when I want to "open the window." Haha.

My existing balances are stamped 2540.

Thank you for the help.

Hey Scott. This looks like either an S380-26 or S385-26. The only difference between these two balances is the 'depth' of the bottom nylon shoe, so compare both with your old hardware to see what matches best. You'll need a stamp option of 2540.

A home owner from Colorado says:
Thank you; I will compare those models referenced to my damaged balance. Could you elaborate on what you mean by "You'll need a stamp option of 2540"?

Bob from SWISCO responded:

Sure, sorry for not clarifying. You need to pick a stamp option with any channel balance you purchase. You'll see them listed on every channel balance shop page on our website. These stamp options essentially designate the weight range the balance is calibrated to support. You always want to replace the original stamp option--which in your case, was 2540. A balance that's too weakly calibrated won't be able to keep the windows closed; one too strong, and the windows will have trouble staying closed. Hope this makes sense.

A home owner from Colorado says:
Look at that; I learn something new everyday. Thank you so much for all of your help!!!

Y'all can expect my business once I inspect and determine if a S-380 or S-385 is needed.

Have a great evening.
