Sliding door and window parts

Home Owner from Greenbrae, CA

The part that the sliding door handle latches into is cracked, as you can see in the picture, circled in green. I hope you can identify it from the picture. It looks like it should be easy to replace.

The other picture shows the two parts of a sliding window handle. The lower part, that my finger is touching, can keep the handle locked. But that lower part falls down. I think it used to have a spring that fell out. (I'm not the original owner so I don't know the history). Again, hoping you can identify the part and have a replacement! Additional info: HOA docs show that the brand name is Milgard.

Many thanks.

Hello,

Your handle set resembles the 82-005 surface-mounted handle set with 4-15/16" installation holes. Unfortunately, the face-mounted keeper shown in your photo is no longer available. See the photo below that shows the standard keeper that comes with this set. You would need to determine if you'd be able to drill new holes and have space to install the new keeper in the door jamb.

Unfortunately, we do not carry a replacement for the sliding window latch shown in your second photo. I'm sorry that we won't be able to assist with this part of your repair but please let us know if you have any other hardware questions. Thanks for posting.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply!
I looked at my handle again, and I think maybe it's identical co the 82-005. I'm attaching a few more pictures to see if you agree.

The handle does seem to have 4-15/16" hole spacing.

Thanks!

I agree that your handle set does look like a match to the 82-005. The only thing that I'm uncertain about is the keeper since yours is no longer available and, as I mentioned, you would need to drill new installation holes and make sure you have space to install the one that comes with the 82-005 shown in the photo we provided.

Thanks, I understand better now. Too bad the keeper is different, it makes for more work. Also the look would be different and our HOA can be ridiculously picky. I think it's beyond me.

We were also disappointed to hear that the face-mounted keeper that used to come with the 82-005 handle set was discontinued. It may be a good idea to reach out to the HOA to determine how they would recommend proceeding with this repair.
