Sliding glass door lock

Question

Since we've bought the house, the sliding glass door has never worked. My real estate agent sent me a link for the gold lock that I recently ordered from this website (order #1386483). The one I ordered is too big, and I have no idea what part I need. Unfortunately, I can't find any brand names. All I've found is a warranty #, and sales order # on a sticker.

Thanks for posting. Sorry to hear you're having trouble with the 82-265. To be honest though, it's exactly what I'd be compelled to recommend. Without seeing the original mortise lock, recommending a replacement can be difficult; but in this case this certainly looks like the hole we see these mortise locks fit into. Keep in mind it is supposed to be a snug fit to get the 82-265 in there. See the video below; while this is for installing an entirely different lock, the principles are the same. If you still can't get the lock to fit right, can you tell us the distance between the center of each mounting hole? As well as the height and width of the hole? From there, we'll do our best to figure something out for you. Thanks.
