Sliding glass door mechanism

Quick Learner
Please help I'm trying to find the correct mechanism for my sliding glass door
I've also posted photos of the door handles as well to see if that may help.
I've already bought:

(1) 82-239 : Multi-Point Mortise Lock and Keeper, 9-7/8" It didn't work

I also bought

(1) 82-265 : Multi-Point Mortise Lock with Face Plate, 11" It didn't work it

Please if someone can help the picture above is the original mechanism that came with the door as you can see it's broken.

Based on your photo, the 82-239 looks like a good match to me. Can you go into more detail as to why it didn't work?

Yes it seems really loose when I put it in and screw in the handles. So it doesn't lock. I'm not sure if it's because I have a lock on it or if I'm just completely missing something. I provided photos so you can take a look how it looks.

Thank you! It looks like you're missing the face plate, in which case our 82-265 would be the better option. The face plate goes over the front of the mortise and installs on those top and bottom screw holes in the door frame itself. That would explain why it feels so loose, since the mortise isn't technically secured to anything.

Ah yes makes perfect sense. Do you know the type of screws that I can use to screw on the face plate to the mechanism? So I can go to a hardware store and purchase.

Hey there, I believe the screw used is a flat head screw and either a #6 x 1/2" or a #8 x 1/2". I recommend taking one of the old screws in to a local hardware store to make sure you have the right size.

Are you able to tell me what handle would fit 82-265? I provided pics above. My current handle is not working with my new mortise lock. The lock on the outside is trying to go in the same hole as the one on the inside. If that makes sense.

The 82-265 is compatible with many, many different handles. The one you have happens to be one of them; there is nothing we carry that would work better. Based on your description of the issue, you need to trim the key tail down a little more so that the two tails can fit comfortably in the same slot.

Quick Learner
Okay that definitely makes sense. What could I use to trim the key tail down? Also I lost the other screw for the handle do you guys sell just the screws? I've check all the hardware stores and nobody could seem to help me. Thanks again for the help!

We don't sell the screws separately, unfortunately. Losing that screw is definitely not ideal. I would triple check just to make sure no hardware store near you has the same size.

As for trimming the tail down, you can place it in a table vice and use a hacksaw. That's usually what I do. I recommend only cutting a little bit down, then try it out to see if it fits; if not, cut a little more off, then try again, and so on. Better to do it a few times and get it right then take off too much and not be able to fix it.

Okay will do thanks again for your help!
