Sliding patio door lock

No numbers or markings that are still readable on the door. It is original to the house built in the mid 80's. Locking mechanism is broken and needs to be replaced. Help.

I am afraid we don't carry a handle set like this. That multi-point lock is very unique. Our only option for you would be to consider discarding this setup if you can't find it anywhere else, then converting to a surface mount handle set like our 82-005. Look it over and see what you think.

Is there a way to address the 14 inch hole in the side of the door where the current mechanism is?

You'd need to find a way to cover it, perhaps with a metal sheet. Not aesthetically ideal but you may have no other choice. A local hardware store might be able to furbish what you need.
