Sliding patios door latch

A quick learner from Missouri says:
Can't find a latch to match the face screw holes which is 2 11/16" . Is this a description misprint on this product stating 3 11/16" ? Don't have photo since I have to take the side off the glass door to get the latch out.

The measurement for our 82-223 is not a misprint. 2-11/16" is actually very small for a mortise. Can you show me a picture of the part in question? That will allow me to determine if it's something we can replace.

A quick learner from Missouri says:
Here are 4 pics. Inside handle, outside handle, end with two screw holes, only one screw is in the top hole though, 2 11/16" apart that hold the internal latch, the narrow slot in the end is where the keeper enters to the latch, last pic is the keeper. Any help, info on this sliding glass, aluminum frame door is much appreciated. I can see inside the slot that the latch/hook broke. Hoping I can find the part before I need to take the frame off to access the latch, for I will have to take both glass doors off to access the screws in the bottom that are holding the frame together. I assume the door is original in my 1967 built house. Thank you

Wow, this is a very, very old door. I don't think you're going to find the hardware you need; latch, handle, or otherwise. These parts haven't been made in a long time.

The only hardware we have that can work for you is a surface mount set like our 82-005. This is nice because it has its own self-contained mortise, meaning it doesn't interact with any mechanism inside the door. The downside is that you have to drill new holes for it. The style also isn't the same.

I'm very sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I do think a surface mount set is your best, and likely only, option.
