Sliding window balance spring ID

Hello,

There is a patent # 5353,548 written on the plastic case. The design is similar to the series 140 but not identical. I could not find a name of the manufacturer only a logo.

Thanks for your help.

I don't believe that the Series 140 will work for you. Your pivot shoe looks more like our 15-087, which uses our Series 180 coil spring. You'll need the stamp off the old springs to confirm the best Series 180 option. Otherwise, I'm confident that this hardware is a better match. Look these parts over and let me know what you think!

Hello,

I removed the spring and see that it is marked CMC 205 35" 7#. From this I think that I need a spring 35"long with a 7lb rating. Is the S 180-7 the spring that I need along with 15-087 coil housing pivot? (one each per side, two sets per window)

I watched the replacement video, and it suggests that I use two spreaders or cut the frame. My frames are aluminum, so I don't think that the spreaders will work. My only option in that case is to cut the frame or remove the window. Are these options my only choice?

Thanks,

Peter

Hello again! Yes, if your old spring is marked with "7" then the S180-7 is absolutely what you want.

If your frames are aluminum and if you have no pre-existing cutout, then making the cutout yourself is your only option, yes. Our spreaders unfortunately will not work for aluminum windows.
