Spiral Balance Color

Question

I have four S900-18 balances in my cart. The original is 18" long, 3/8" diameter, with a white plastic tip. My sash weighs 9.2 lbs. so it will fit the red and blue categories. Can you tell me which would be best? I also have four 15-212 pivot shoes which perfectly match the existing ones. The window in the picture is in new condition, left over from the original construction.

Hello! As your sash weight falls under both the Red and Blue weight options, either one should work without issue. I guess if I had to pick I would go with Red, since on the Blue tip you are cutting it a little close, whereas the Red tip covers it comfortably. Plus, the white tip on a lot of older balances translates to the modern red tip that you see on the market today. I think it's a safe bet.
