Product Description

This is a Series 900 spiral balance for a tilt-in window. It moderates the operation of your window sash to allow the window to stay open when raised.

This balance has a 18" long metal tube. When determining the length only measure the metal tube.
The strength you need should be indicated as a color tip at the end of your old metal tube. If you do not see a color tip weigh your sash on a scale and refer to the chart below.
The metal tube measures 3/8" in diameter and houses an internal spiral rod with double pins.
Can work for either the left or right side of the window interchangeably.
Spiral window balances come fully lubricated and ready to be charged.

Color Tip	Sash Weight Range
red tip	6 to 16 lbs
blue tip	9 to 21 lbs
green tip	14 to 24 lbs

*This information is based on 2 balances per sash. Balances are designed assuming friction in the jamb weather-strip will carry a portion of the sash weight. Suggested sash weights are approximate.

Good Idea!

For best results, replace window balances in pairs (though sold individually). An old balance will overwork a new one, causing faster wear and uneven operation. Paired replacement ensures optimal, lasting performance.

Helpful Tip!

You should choose the color tip that matches the color tip of the balances you are replacing. If you do not see the tip color available in 'options' or you are unsure of which color to choose: ask our experts for help.
