Spiral Balance Inquiry

Quick Learner from Wilmington, NC

There is a metal spiral piece inside of a plastic sleeve about 1/2 inch in diameter. The part that attaches it to the window frame is plastic, too. It is almost 30 inches long.

Thanks for posting. For your pivot shoe, take a look at our 15-129 Pivot Shoe. Compare the dimensions listed, especially the width and thickness, with your old shoe and see what you think. For your Spiral Balance, it sounds like you have either a S600-30 or S900-29. You'll need to measure the diameter of the outer white tube again to determine which you need. Be precise as possible. The S600-30 outer tube has a 5/8" diameter; while the S900-30 has a 3/8" diameter. Finally, if your balance lacks a Colored Tip, weigh your window sash. You can then match that sash weight with one of the weight ranges listed alongside each Colored Tip option on the product page.

The sash weighs 17 pounds. The tube diameter is 5/8. The pivot show is 9/16 thick. It looks just like the one in your picture,

Thanks for getting back to me. See the S600-30 5/8" Tilt Window Spiral Balance. If your window sash weighs 17 lbs, you can go with a Red Tip option, for 7 through 29 lbs. If you need a Charging Tool, see our 75-006. Let us know if you have any questions.
