Spiral balance questions

Home Owner from Birmingham
I have windows with the 850 Block and Tackle style balances. However I need 28-1/2" and 32-1/2" long. I see you saying to use the 795 series. What is the width of the channel of the 795 series? Want to make sure it will fit in the space I have which is 1/2". Also looks like their phasing out the 850 series? I also need one 22-1/2" should I go ahead and change it over to the 795? Also what about using a longer 850 series and cutting 1-1/2" off? Could that be done? Thanks

If I recall back to my early hardware knowledge, it sounds like you may have a MW Manufacturer window. That said, for your 22-1/2" balance, I would suggest continuing to use the Series 850 to keep the replacement simple for the smaller window. As for the other two sizes, our Series 795 will be able to work in its place. We would just need for you to provide us with the weight of the sashes and width of the bottom shoe. You will also need to change the pivot bars to our 26-366 to work with the Series 795

the 28-1/2 weight is 8-22lb, the 32-1/2 is 9-25lb. both have the black bottom shoe 1-1/4" wide.

Also will the channel on the 795 fit in my side opening of 1/2"?

Thanks

You'll need to get the exact weights for each sash. I recommend getting the weight down to the ounce, just to be on the safe side. We have a chart on both the S795-28 and S795-32 store pages that tells you exactly how much weight each option can support. All you have to do is weigh your sash and refer to those charts.

The Series 795 should fit in your window track, yes.
