30 year old Champion windows, double-hung, non-tilt. Not the "Champion Windows" you know nationally but a local Houston company that went out of business years ago.
I believe the spiral balance is the 400-29. They are 3/8" and 29" with no attachments on bottom. Whatever was there rusted off. I'm hoping you can identify the bottom bracket type from the photos. I really don't want to disassemble a working window if I can avoid it. Any suggestions?

Hello,
Unforutnately, we can't be sure of the balance you need without seeing the spiral end to determine how it attaches to the bracket. I would recommend comparing the image below to the balance on the other side or an identical window. The yellow tip also indicates that you may have a heavier window. If you could also confirm the weigh of your sash, that would help us determine the strength option needed for your repair.
How to measure the length of the Series 400 spiral balance
It looks like you may have a bracket that mounts to the bottom of the sash. If so, take a look at the 17-031 commonly used with the S400 spiral balances. Thank you.
