I am afraid I can't cross-reference this number to a specific operator. Can you show me a picture of the entire mechanism, including the split-arm? I'll do my best to ID what you need from there. Thanks.

The one I need looks exactly like the 39-171. The 5" arm is
a little to long???? However the last one I ordered was a
39-315. That was about a 1/2" too long. Maybe the 39-171
would perhaps work.

These two operators are critically different, because the link arm is riveted on the bottom of the gear arm with the 39-171, whereas with the 39-315 the arm is riveted on top. The 39-171 also has an offset in the link arm. Now, assuming you can identify which you need, the issue of link arm length is what we'll deal with next. You could try to install the new operator and see if it works anyways. if it doesn't, re-position the bracket the link arm connects to on the sill and see if that can make up the difference.
