Can you kindly tell me what spring system I need to purchase for my Certainteed window model #4880/367R Edgemont Double Hung. CAR#484-104D (The D at the end of these numbers could also be an O, it's a little hard to read)
Thank you,
Michelle

Hello, Michelle. I am afraid the numbers on the window don't help identify the type of coil spring system you have. We will need to see photos showing us the part(s) completely removed from the window. From there, we can start to determine some replacements for you. |

Hi there! I think I can help with this. Your balance system is an older style that is no longer made. It's a bit of a hybrid between two different pivot shoes commonly use in MI windows: the 15-199 and the 15-180. We don't have an exact match, or even a confirmed substitute, but I do have an idea. Between the two shoes I mentioned, the 15-199 is the best candidate. It's 17/32" thick and 1-1/4" wide, which I believe is the same as yours. You should also be able to use our 1/2" thick Series 160 coil spring. Please review these parts and let me know what you think. |

That's great news. In that case, you can place an order directly from our site any time you wish. |

There should be a stamp printed on your old springs that indicate their weight rating. If not, you'll have to weigh your sash and divide that by the number of springs that support it. For example, if your sash is 9 pounds and you have two springs (one on each side), you would choose the 4.5 option. If your sash is 22 pounds and you have four springs (two on each side) you would choose the 5.5 option. Hopefully those examples make sense. |

I'm thinking that's a 9, since the balance in your photo is being held upside-down. That said, just to be 110% sure, you should weigh your sash on a scale. That way there's no reason to guess. |
