Hi: Cleaning windows last weekend and the right side spring from upper part of double hung window broke. Not sure if I can take plastic side part out without ruining window.
Numbers on window are:
IGMAC
IGCC (c)? CBA
LoE
Cardinal (R)

4-97
Any help you can give me would be SO VERY MUCH APPRECIATED!
Thanks- Mary Lou

Thanks for posting, Mary. I'm afraid that number doesn't tell us what you have. Could you show us a picture of the spring balance itself?

Hello Tom: I'm afraid to take the window 'insides' apart for fear of breaking something further. There is a plastic "liner" that runs the length of the window that I speculate can be pried out, so I can take a picture of the broken spring- that's what I'm nervous about removing. I will send you a picture of that. Perhaps you can tell me if I should be messing with it.

Ah, I see. I'm afraid we won't be able to help you with this. Your spring is actually built into that plastic jamb liner, which is not something we are able to sell. I would recommend bringing the jamb liner in to a local mill work that still makes wood windows, they should be able to make up a new one for you. Sorry we can't be of more help!

Looks like a Crestline / Vetter window. Was it hook on the top of the friction shoe that broke or was it the spring itself? Part number 15-104 is the friction shoe.
