Springs

I took of the window spring I am looking for. (View photo) The overall length is 29 inches. The problem is that the plastic tab at the very top of the device has broken on half of the 24 windows I have, preventing me from opening the window and it remaining open. The rope attached to this plastic tab then does not hold the window open. My widows are 20 years old and I guess the plastic just became to brittle and snapped.

The length is 29 inches. The spring part with the black bracket at the bottom is 17-1/2 inches and the rope part at the top is 10- 1/2 inches . I hope this helps.

Thanks for writing in! Your balances appear to be the discontinued crossbow style balance. These have been converted to use our Series 795 Channel Balances.

To confirm that these balances will be a situatable replacement, you'll need to obtain a few measurements from your existing balances. To start, you'll need to confirm the diameter of the balance channel/tube, which should be 1/2". Although, there is a chance it could measure 3/8", if it is please let me know.

You'll also need to obtain the width of the bottom T-shaped attachment, as well. It will either be 1" or 1-1/4" across the bottom of the T shape.

The last piece of information you'll need to obtain is the exact weight of the window to select. You'll need this to select the correct stamp option.

Take a look at the video below for instructions on this balance conversion and the information you'll need to determine the correct balances. Let me know if you have any questions.

Here is what I measured
Window weight- 18 pounds
Metal pin base- 1/14 inches and I believe it is your 15-195 item #
Pivot bars-Either 26-021 or 26-366?
The thin plastic rod above the spring is 1/4 inch and 9 inches long with 4 elastic rope attached
The overall length of the device is 29 inches
I hope this is what you need to get me the right springs

Thanks for confirming the information. Your balance can be converted to use the S795-29 which comes equipped with a 15-195 1-1/4" T-Lock Balance Shoe.

In regard to the sash weight, when you obtained the sash weight did you round down or round up to 18lbs? This is important for determining the stamp option needed for your window. I'll need to know the exact weight down to the ounce.
