String balance

Home Owner from Vermont
It's 30" long, attaches with a small bar that clips to a hook in the window channel. They go up fine but require a lot of weight to go down.

Thanks for contacting us! I am confident we can provide you with the replacement balance you need. Although, the one pictured here appears to be missing the bottom attachment. I'll need to see this to determine to correct replacement match.

You'll need to check the window channel to see if there are any attachments that may have been left behind in the window channel.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.

Let me know if these pictures work. The top is just a hook in the window sill attaching to a metal bar on the balance. The bottom is a small hook with a pointed end that hooks on where the window snaps in

Thanks for the additional photos. Your balance is assembled with a plain channel (like our Series 770 Balance), a 62-105 Heavy Duty Pointed Hook on the bottom. Since this is not a standard assembly, I'll need to provide you with an order link for them.

The stamp from your balance will not cross-reference with our balances, so I'll need to know the exact weight of your sash to determine the right stamp for your replacements.

As you mentioned, there is a rivet at the top of the balance which uses the 19-030 Long S-Clip to attach the channel at the top of the window; this clip is sold separately from the balance.

I will also need to know the exact number of balances you intend to purchase. There is a quantity minimum of (2) balances for custom assemblies.

Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions you might have.

Thanks Jasmine, is getting the weight as simple as pulling that part of the window out and weighing it? All of my s-clips look fine, so wouldn't need that, just the balance.

Roughly how much is the assembly? Deciding if I order new ones for all the windows that have a hard time going down or not

Yes, since the sash is removable, you'll be able to place it on a scale to confirm the weight. I'll be able to provide you with a quote to review, but I will need to know the weight of the window first. The weight is one of the things that factors in to the pricing for the balance.

You'll be able to review the quote before finalizing any orders.

sorry for the delay!!

The ones we are having issues with, the sash is 16.5lbs

I would want to order 12 of them for 6 windows that are the same size

Great! I'm happy to hear that the replacements worked for your repairs.

The shoe should be the 15-208 Pivot Lock Shoe tagged below. You can find the dimensions for it directly on the website so that you can compare them before making your purchase.
