Hey there!

Thanks for reaching out to us. We're happy to help with this. Could we see a photo of the pivot bar? That will help us determine which of our options may work for you.

Which part is the pivot bar? Is that in the window?

Hello,

The pivot bar is the metal bar on the bottom of the window sash. There should be one on each side which engages with the pivot shoe in the window channels. Thank you!

I'm not sure I can get that - is it necessary?

It isn't necessary but it does help us suggest the best option for your project. If this is a CertainTeed brand window, take a look at the 15-192 which uses the S170 & S171 coil springs. There are "bumps" on the face that may need to be ground down to fit into the window track. You may also need to reuse the old pivot shoe's metal cam depending on the pivot bar.

If you have a Simonton brand window, I recommend the 15-259 and Series 159 coil springs. You'll need the 26-083 for this conversion as well. The video below will go over the replacement details.
