Hey, Ken! I recommend our 82-086 handle set. I am very confident this will work for your door.

As for the internal mechanism, it sounds like that could be the mortise lock. Trouble is, the 82-086 is compatible with a bunch of different kinds. We'll need a photo of the original in order to recommend a good match. In the meantime, check out our 82-218, 82-226, 82-227, or even the double hook 82-265.
