What is this part and what does it do?

Hello there. This looks like a mounting bracket, such as our 16-024. These mounting brackets hook to the tongue of a coil spring that helps regulate the movement of the window. The 16-024 is typically seen with our Series 180 Coil Balances and the 15-087 Pivot Shoe. See the diagram below.
