Which spring?

Question

Both springs on my double hung window broke within a few days of each other, looking to replace them but they are stamped with "10" which does not match any of the descriptions.  Which should I choose?

Thanks for posting. It looks like you have a 15-177 pivot shoe, which is compatible with our 1/2" thick Series 152 coil spring. You are correct in noting that we don't carry a 10 pound spring for this Series. The only other option we can suggest would be to split the weight up between lighter springs.

Since you have one 10 pound springs on each side of the window, I feel it's reasonable to guess that your sash is 20 pounds. You may want to weigh it to be 100% sure. If it is, then you could use two 5 pound springs (S152-5) on each side of the window. This would amount to the same level of support.
