Window

Question

The bathroom window no longer goes up and down. It is difficult to open. A friend examined it and thinks the coil spring is the issue. I would welcome your feedback. Thanks.

Thanks for posting. it does look like the entire coil balance assembly might be worn down and should be replaced. The pivot shoe is our 15-177. This works with Series 152 Coil Balance. Each piece in this setup is replaced individually. Individual coil springs have 'spring weights', which designate the weight range they ae designed to support. Look for stamps on the old springs that indicate this. If there are none, or you are unsure, give me the exact weight of the window sash that these coil balances support, and I can work out the spring weights needed.
