Window Balance Replacement

Home Owner from Columbus, OH
I need to replace two window balance units and I'm not sure what parts I need. Whatever holds the spring in place at the bottom of the unit broke and the spring detached.

Hi there!

Thanks for reaching out to us. This looks like a match for the Series 795 with the 15-195B open cam shoe (sold separately). The video below will show you how to install this shoe. You can discard the default one the S795 comes with.

To determine the length, you only want to measure the metal channel. You will also have to weigh the window sash on a scale to determine the proper stamp option for your replacements. There's a chart under the product description on the S795 store page that you can refer to.

Please note that the Series 795 installs with a screw. If yours uses a hook, let me know! We can still help but it'd have to be a custom order. I'll be here if you have any questions!

Keep in mind that your old balance was, for whatever reason, installed backward. I'm not sure why the installers did this but many did at the time. Our S795 has the exposed spring side of the channel pressed against the jamb, not facing out toward the house.
