Window Balance Rod Replacements

Question

Hello - Thank you for developing an efficient method to order the CORRECT parts and for the great do-it-yourself video. I did notice my rods have a white string attached to the bottom clip which I did notice when watching the video so am a little concerned about that detail.

The rods are 29" long / approximately 1/2" wide. The number stamped on the rod is either 28 B or 28 R. It is a little difficult to make-out but if necessary, I will look further into this. The windows are single pane aluminum and installed in 2006.

I would need 8 sets of rods. I greatly appreciate your assistance and expertise.

Hello, Joe. The company that originally made your balances has gone out of business, but I am confident we can still help to locate a replacement. See both our S380-29 and S385-29. These look exactly the same with the exception of the depth measurement of the bottom shoe. The depth measurement for the bottom shoe for the Series 380 is 1" and for the Series 385 is 1-3/32". Measure the depth of your bottom shoe, like in the diagram below to determine which balance is a match. Whichever one chosen will go with the 2820 stamping that corresponds to your "28B" stamp.
