The were pictures i took from my window balances. They are inside my window side jambs. The windows were installed when we built the house about 23 years ago. The windows are still in excellent shape, problem is these balances broke, the piece that attaches to the spring mechanism broke off as i have illustrated in the pictures. Where can i find replacements or can i just replace the whole mechanism. These parts are inside the side jambs and it's made of a plastic material. PLEASE help.

This looks like our 15-104 Friction Shoe. Now these shoes are used with jamb liner systems, where the naked spring is built into the jamb liner. I'm afraid we can't replace these systems, but if it's a wood window I advise you get in touch with a mill work in your area. They should be able to set you up with replacements.

I had the same issue on about 20 windows and have used these parts. Usually the spring becomes a little deformed after the shoe breaks and the recoils quickly, but the spring can be reused. You need to remove the window jams containing the channel and spring. Replace the spring and new shoe and reinstall jam.
