Thanks for writing in! Your channel balance has a bit of an unusual design. It appears to be similar to our balances with a T-lock shoe, however, it does have a terminal clip attached to the top of it. Which is something we do not usually see. With that said, there is a chance that this may need to be a custom made assembly. To determine if there is a replacement we can supply, I'll need to confirm a few details about your balance. To start, please confirm the length of your metal channel as well as the width of the channel. Please also confirm the weight of the sash these balances support. Please let me know if you have any questions in the meantime. |

Thanks for confirming this information. You will not be able to replace the spring alone as we do not sell them separate from any of our balances and do not recommend that customers replace the springs themselves. The springs on these balances are installed by machine, especially since they are the part of the balances that holds the tension to support the weight of the sash. There is a potential risk for injury if the spring shoots out the channel during installation. Our senior experts have confirmed that your original balance has been discontinued and hasn't been made in quite some time now. The good new is that they believe your window track should be compatible with our Series 795 Channel Balance. Although, you should be aware that this balance has a plain channel unlike the ribbed channel you have. We suggest the S795-23 with a 23C stamp, which can support a sash weighing 16 to 21lbs. This balance comes fully assembled with a 19-043 Block and Tackle Screw-in Clip and a 15-195 1-1/4" T-Lock Balance shoe. Take a look at the dimension of the shoe below to confirm that it has the same dimensions as your existing shoe. Feel free to reach out with any questions.

The length of the metal channel should be 23". Regarding the shoe, since yours has a 1" width, you'll need the the 15-194 T-Lock balance shoe. Take a look at the video below for instructions on how to swap the shoes from the balance. Please let me know if there is anything else I can assist with. |
