Window Channel Balance: 27 B B.S.I (or 3.S.I ?)

A home owner from Smyrna, GA says:
I need to replace 4 Window Channel Balances. Can you recommend the correct products from your company?
Photos are attached of the side view, "inside" view, and markings.
The metal part of the original balance appears to be 28" (see attached photos).
A quote would also be appreciated.
Thank you!

Hello,

With this combination of attachments, you could have either an S380-28 or S385-28 channel balance. You’ll need to measure as shown below. The Series 380 has a 1" bottom attachment, and the Series 385 has a 1-3/32" attachment. You'll also need 2720 spring strength options for your replacement balances.

Thank you and let us know if you have any other questions or concerns.

Hi Casey!
I need Series 385 with a 1-3/32" attachment

What are my Spring options?

Great, as I mentioned, you'll need 2720 spring strength options for your replacement balances based on the 27B stamp in your photo. Thanks for posting!

Am I ready to order???

Are there more than one option for Spring 2720 spring strength?
I thought you had posted something about spring strength, but I don't see it now. Can you re-post that info?

Thank you, Casey!

Welcome back!

2720 will be the strength option that you will choose on the S385-28 product page before choosing your quantity and adding them to your cart. Hope this helps!

A home owner from Smyrna, GA says:
Hi Casey,
I've added photos of the top end. The pictures listed look like what I have added.
The Hook is 7/8" long
Top is 1.25" long with about 1/4" inside the channel
The top width is 7/8"

I see no markings for spring strength on the existing channel balance. I can't weigh it, but I can lift it. The window is vinyl, about 28" x 29". I'm guessing the 13lb would work. If I choose the 13 - 20 lb option (2730), would there be a problem with getting a spring strength that is a little more than I need?
I think I'm just about ready to order.
Thank you for your time.

Hope you had a great 4th of July!
Lydia

Hello,

If this is still in reference to the balance shown in your original post, you'd still need the S385-28 with a 2720 strength option based on the 27B shown in your photo.

If this balance is from another window and it has no stamp code, I would strongly recommend getting the exact sash weight since getting something too strong will prevent the window from closing. If the spring is too weak, the window will not stay open.

A home owner from Smyrna, GA says:
Casey,
Do I need to order the top and bottom fittings separately, along with the balances?

Thank you for all of your help!

Casey from SWISCO responded:

The S385-28 comes with both the top and bottom fittings attached to the metal channel, as well as the clip at the end of the pulley cord.

Thank you, Casey! You are awesome!
