Window Counter Balance

The only marking I found said "28 4 DL Caldwell". I measured the metal part and it was almost 28 inches (not including the plastic ends).

This is a Series 380 balance.

Let me call your attention to something. If you look, someone seems to have actually filed down the bottom attachment a little bit, maybe to make it fit into the window. I'm not sure why they would have done that, but it could be something unique to your window. You may find that you also need to file the bottom attachment down. Or it could just be wear and tear. Who knows? Either way, Series 380 will work.

However, if the length of the metal channel is 28", then the product was mislabeled. 28" balance labels usually begin "27." Verify the length before selecting S380-28. Then weigh the window sash and follow the "stamp option" chart in the product description on our site.

I just measured it again and the channel is 29 inches long. I must have mismeasured the first time. I see what you mean by the bottom portion being filed down. I have no idea what the product weighs. I don't have a way to weigh it.

I wanted you to weigh the window sash, not the balance, however, if the balance is actually 29", that's not necessary. It is correctly labeled, after all. Choose S380-29 with a "2840" weight option.
