You'll need to be sure to replace both the top and bottom hinge at the same time. These can be used for both right and left handed applications.
Yes, you can replace the operators without replacing the hinges. They are separate parts. I only recommended them based on the request above but if they are in good, working condition, you shouldn't need to replace them.
