Window Issue

A home owner from Canary Islands says:
Hello, I have 10 double hung tilt windows in my house since 23 years ago. But we've always had the problem of them sliding down by themselves after some years. I think the problem is that the windows are 33lb each (15kg) and the spiral balance are red-coded. I've been thinking about changing them to the black-coded ones, is that correct?

On the other hand, my pivot shoes' code is 530C, which ones should I switch them for?

Hello there!

Since you have a tilt window, my recommendation would be either the 3/8" Series 900 or 5/8" Series 600 depending on the diameter of the outer tube. There's a chart under the product description on the S900 and S600 store pages that will tell you what option is best based on the weight of the window sash.

As for the pivot shoe, the 530C code has been associated with the 15-046 in the past but this is by no means a guarantee. I recommend you remove an undamaged version from the window and compare the specifications to ensure they match up.
