Window Tilt Mechanism

A home owner from Maryland says:
Hello,

The plastic t-lock balance shoe hook snapped on my window, causing the channel balance to spring up towards the hooked string in the upper part of my window. The channel balance is anchored by a metal hook at the top of the window trim channel. Is it possible to replace just the shoe, or is the channel balance also required? I see newer block and tackles are anchored with a screw versus a hook, should I convert to this?

Thanks for posting. The groove in the stem of your old T-Lock Shoe is meant to be compatible with the groove in the bottom of your channel balance. Neither our T-Lock Shoes or Series 795 Channel Balances have this groove; therefore, I'm afraid you will need to replace both the shoe and the balance--though if the shoe broke, its likely the balance isn't far behind anyways.

We can help you replace these parts, but I'll need a little more information to be able to help you. First, could you tell us whether your old T-Lock shoe is 1" or 1-1/4" wide? This will determine whether it's our 15-194 or 15-195. Compare both to your old shoe and see what's closest. Second, can you tell us the length of the metal channel, not including the shoe? Any stamp codes on the metal channel would also be useful. Finally, you are correct: our standard Series 795 Balances screw in rather than use a hook. Can you show us a picture of the hole in the wall that the hook on top of the balance attaches to? That will clue us in as to what the best option is for you. Many thanks.

A home owner from Maryland says:
The shoe is 1inch. The metal channel is 34 inches without the hook. It has 34C printed on it. I am away from home for a few days but I will try to get the photo when available.

Please let me know if you are able to help without the photo of the hook hole.

Thank you!

We can, but it would have to be a custom order. If you're willing to proceed with a custom order, let me know how many balances you need and we can email you an order link and price quote for the desired quantity.
