Window balance codes for ordering right part

A quick learner from Texas says:

It appears that my balance is a series 385. The metal part is 22" long and i believe both ends had wings but it looks like the wings are broken off on one end.

The makings are confusing to me. If you look at the photo at first glance the number appears to be 29 30 but this is not correct. A 29 30 is too long. When I looked at the stamping marks very closely I see the first 4 letters as 2190 but the 1 and 0 are very faint as compared to the 2 and 9 so what i thought to be a 29/30 is actually a 2190/30. Can you help?

Thank you,

Gregg

Hey, Gregg. If you believe the wings on your bottom fitting broke off, then I agree that our Series 385 is a good match. However, I don't see any obvious damage on that bottom fitting. You may want to consider our Series 395 instead. This has a 19-005 winged and 15-001 non-winged bottom fitting. Check it out and see what you think.

As for the stamp, I admittedly can't read what it is in your photo. It's just a little too faint. I think your best bet in this case is to weigh your sash on a scale. We have a chart on both the S385-22 and S395-22 (depending on which one you go with) that tells you exactly how much weight each option supports. That way you don't have to guess; you just pick whichever stamp option best matches the weight at hand.
