Window balance shoe?

Quick Learner from 53110
My window doesn't stay up. From what I read, I need to replace the balance shoe but don't know which replacement part I need. I don't see any markings or stamps. Can anyone tell me a suitable replacement part? Also, how can I tell if it's either the right or left side or both that needs to be replaced?

Thanks for reaching out to us! Our 15-177 pivot shoe should do the trick. This is designed to work with the Series 152 coil springs.

You only need to replace what's broken, so if the pivot shoe on the other side of the window is in good shape, you don't have to replace it.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

How can I tell what piece is actually broken? Wether or not I need to replace the coil piece or the balance shoe part? I don't know if it's the left or right side either.

Also I noticed the color of the bracket on the back is different... does that impact the specific part I need?

No the color of the brake doesn't matter. I'd recommend inspecting both shoes for any signs of damage to it or the metal cam. The pivot shoe in your first photo looks fine but you can always replace both pivot shoes if you'd like.

If the springs aren't snapped or bent, you can reuse them. If you need new ones, I recommend weighing the window on the sash and dividing the weight by the number of springs in the window to determine the proper weights.
